Timothy E. Hicks officially announced his candidacy for re-election to the Auburn Board of Selectmen in Auburn’s annual town election being held on May 15.
In the past three years, Hicks has been a major part of several key accomplishments that have moved the town forward.
"We have restored our town’s commitment to road improvement by investing close to $500,000 annually for paving projects. We have budgeted responsibly in order to provide for initiatives such as full day kindergarten, a middle school feasibility study, and a new recreation complex on Pakachoag Hill. We have also been fiscally prudent, allowing for taxpayers to see a rise in the tax levy that amounts to 1.25 percent or less as opposed to the automatic 2.5 percent which was standard in prior years," Hicks said.
"This year, that will result in 1.8 million dollars being kept in the households of Auburn taxpayers instead of government coffers. This fiscal responsibility has resulted in an upgrade of our town’s bond rating from A2 to Aa3. This upgrade will save taxpayers tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars for future capital needs."
Over the next three years, Hicks hopes to focus on maintaining a strong fiscal position, continue the much needed progress on Auburn roads and work toward economic development.
In addition to his involvement in town government, Hicks is also a sales representative for Abbott Laboratories, promoting products used in the treatment of medical conditions including prostate cancer and endometriosis. He has a BA in business management from Assumption College and is a graduate of St. John’s High School.
Hicks lives at 2 Bridle Path with his wife, Diane and family.
