Dear Editor:
With so much coverage in the media devoted to the dismal approval ratings of our representatives (last month's New York Times poll showed Congress' approval rating fell at an all-time low of 9 percent), I'm writing to inform my fellow community members of an example of how one of our representatives, State Representative Paul Frost, continues to work on Beacon Hill to help solve our day-to-day challenges.
Recently, a senior participant at Pakachoag Gardens, our adult day health program, was shut off from her MassHealth. MassHeath was stopped because, unfortunately, our patient’s family (with so many things to remember) forgot to renew it.
This female senior was attending our Pakachoag Gardens day program five days per week; it's safe to say our program is her lifeline. As soon as Auburn VNA Health Network learned of the abrupt termination of MassHealth, we immediately reached out to Elder Services of Worcester and to MassHealth.
Our outreach wasn't successful, and our team grew increasingly frustrated.
Finally, we contacted our State Representative Paul Frost. Within days our patient’s MassHealth was restored. So much is written about how our politicians don't represent us or our most pressing needs. State Representative Paul Frost and his staff at the State House do it every day.
Along with the team at Pakachoag Gardens, I extend sincere gratitude for his efforts.

Elected officials are our conduit to the government for making policy. I think it's great that Paul was able to handle this problem for your family. But let's face it, that's not his job.
However, it speaks volumes about an oversized bureaucacy where people using the system can't get one of the many people that are paid to manage the program to do their job and correct a problem.
I want to thank Paul for helping this family, but Paul please do something to fix the problem in the system that only you were able to overcome and the masses struggle with everyday.
