The Auburn Senior Center would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to the Auburn Cultural Council for the grant awarded to the Auburn Council on Aging that funded a performance of the Blackstone Valley Blue Grass Band here on Sept. 11.

We had originally planned our Summer Festival, sponsored by the Friends of the Auburn Senior Center Association, for July 30, with the band booked for an outdoor concert on that date. Unfortunately, we had to change the original festival date, and the band was not available. We were able to book the band on Sept. 11, which coincided with the Italian Cookout also sponsored by FASCA. Approximately 100 seniors came to the center for dinner and then stayed for the very lively concert afterward. Since it was a cool early evening, the venue was moved inside, but everyone really enjoyed the music.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Roberta Stencel and Lynn Robinson for helping us to complete the payment process. They both really went out of their way to help us out.

We will be applying for a grant again prior to Oct. 15 for this band at next year’s Summer Festival, and we hope that you will continue to fund events at the senior center.

Very truly yours,

Cheryl A. Westerman

Acting Executive Director
