MILLBURY, Mass. - William F. Legasey, Jr., a lifetime resident of Auburn, 90, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012 in Millbury Healthcare Center after a brief illness.
His wife Evelyne R. (Bouvier) Legasey predeceased him on April 4, 2012.
William is survived by his daughter Sandra Lee Legasey-Feldman and her husband Glenn Feldman of Auburn, her daughter Jennifer Holmes of Dennisport and her children Drew and Alana. William's son Mark Legasey predeceased him in 1995 and left daughters Carolyn Shea and her husband Paul of Leicester and their children, Catherine, Patrick and James (Frankie); Jessica Johnson and her husband Paul and their two children Steven and Amanda; Deirdre his youngest and his wife Catherine. William also leaves his sister Marion Burke and her husband Vernon of Shrewsbury, sister in laws Eva Bassett of Maine, Shirley Williams of Northborough, Anne Bouvier of Douglas; brother in laws Napoleon Armour of California and Milton Armour of New Hampshire and nieces and nephews.
He was the son of William F. Legasey Sr. and Florence L. (Lundquist) Legasey of Auburn. He was born and raised in Auburn and was a 1940 graduate of Auburn High School. William enlisted in the Navy in November of 1942 and served his country in WWII as a junior electricians mate third class. He was honorably discharged in March of 1946 after serving on the USS Bangust in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. September 1, 1947 he married the only woman he ever loved and was married for 64 years before her passing. They were lifetime members of the First Congregational Church of Auburn where they were married.
After his marriage William went to work as a die sinker at Wyman Gordon in Worcester where he worked for nearly 40 years until he retired. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, teaching his children to enjoy the outdoors. William was a hardworking and loyal man who enjoyed spending time with his family. His love for his wife was his reason for living, she was his whole world. His son Mark was his pride and joy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on from 5 to 7 Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012 in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street in Auburn. His funeral service will be held Friday November 30, 2012 at 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
