Obituary: Vivian L. (Bird) Capp, 84

WORCESTER, Mass. -  Vivian L. (Bird) Capp, 84, a lifelong Worcester resident, died peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, Worcester, with her loving family at her side.

Her beloved husband, Peter J. Capp, Sr. died in 2002.


She is survived by her four children, Peter J. Capp, Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Windsor Locks, CT, Deanna Sharrocks and her husband Frederick of Alexandria, VA, Pamela Capp of Worcester and Kathryn Wallat of Auburn;nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her two sisters, Nancy Richardson, Marilyn Brown and a brother Francis Bird.

Vivian was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Francis and Rose (Boucher) Bird. She graduated from Commerce High School and the New England School of Accounting, both in Worcester. Prior to her retirement, Vivian worked for more than 30 years for Parker Manufacturing of Worcester, as a credit manager. Along with her husband, Vivian was a founding member of the former Saint Catherine of Sweden Parish in Worcester, and currently was a member of Sacred Heart-Saint Catherine of Sweden Parish at Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed traveling and was an extraordinary crossword puzzle player, but most of all loved being with her family.

Relatives and friends are welcomed to celebrate the funeral mass on Thursday morning July 26th at 11am at Sacred Heart - Saint Catherine of Sweden Church, 600 Cambridge Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.

Special thanks to all staff members at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home. Their loving care and compassion were great comfort throughout her stay. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Vivian’s memory to the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602 or to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 1 Saint Jude PL, Memphis, TN.
