DUDLEY, Mass. - Raymond S. Hanson, 78, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012.
Raymond leaves his wife of 57 years, Barbara (Barnes) Hanson; four loving children, Deborah Larose and her husband Ernest of N. Grosvenordale, CT, Raymond R. Hanson of Webster, Richard Hanson and his wife Katherine of Dudley and Kelly Berthiaume and her husband David of Dudley; four grandchildren, James and Angela Condon and Christopher and Caila Hanson; three great grandchildren, Connor Hayes, Caiden Gould and Bella Congdon; his brother, Paul Hanson of Worcester; his sister, Hope Walsh of Auburn and many nieces and nephews. Raymond was predeceased by four brothers and sisters.
Raymond was born in Charlton the son of Russell and Cecilia (Scheivert) Hanson. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. Raymond lived in Oxford for many years before moving to Dudley 17 years ago. Raymond worked as a machinist at Henry L. Hanson Co, he then owned and operated North Oxford Variety Store and retired from Nabisco Co. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the town of Oxford. Raymond was a jack of all trades and spent many hours on the family farm. Raymond loved trips to Foxwoods Casino.
Raymond’s visiting hour will be held Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 11 a.m. to noon with a funeral service to be held at noon at Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
