WORCESTER, Mass. - Mary E. (Twomey) Boisvert, 98, of Worcester died Saturday, Aug. 18 in the Auburn Life Care Center. Her husband, Earl J. Boisvert died in 1973.
She leaves two daughters, Mary F. and her husband Michael J. McCarthy of Auburn and Elizabeth A. and her husband James P. Salmon of Auburn and Boynton Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Kerry A. and her husband Robert Durward of Dudley, LCDR Sean M. and his wife Jennifer McCarthy of Jacksonville, NC, Todd D. and his wife Kelly Salmon of Hubbardston and Tracy B. Richert of Auburn; seven grandchildren, Conor, Bridget, Caili, Meghan, Molly, Nathan and James and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, James E. Twomey and Joseph P. Twomey and a sister, Sister Frances Twomey, R.S.M. predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Joseph P. and Fannie A. (Haran) Twomey and graduated from Commerce High School.
Mary worked for the former Worcester Mutual Fire Insurance Company for 20 years, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Worcester County Insurance Women’s Association and was the first President of the Greenwood Gardens Association. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Peter’s Church and at one time taught CCD at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Mary was active in helping the Sisters of Mercy in Worcester and involved in committees for the class of 1932A and 1932B reunions at Commerce High School. She enjoyed frequenting her favorite restaurants and loved dancing. But most of all Mary found joy in helping others. She was very proud of her family and thoroughly enjoyed sharing amusing stories about her great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Auburn Life Care and the VNA Hospice Network for all their comforting gentle care and support.
A Visiting Hour will be held Tuesday, Aug. 21 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Callahan and Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass to follow at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
