AUBURN, Mass. - Marlene E. (Gardella) Rodwill, 73, of Auburn died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 after a brief period of declining health.
Marlene is survived by her son Michael Rodwill and his wife Sheila and her grandson Brendan Rodwill all of Crofton, MD, her son Kevin Rodwill and his wife Leslie Munns of Worcester, her sisters Joan Lorusso and Janice Batcheldor, her brother Paul Gardella and his wife Carole, all of Worcester, and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Her husband Robert R. Rodwill died in 1981.
Marlene was born in Worcester on May 19, 1939, the third of four children born to Louis and Mildred (Peterson) Gardella. She was a graduate of St. Peter’s Central Catholic High School Class of 1957. Marlene began her working career at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and after marrying and having her sons she worked in retail at the Cummings store for several years. She later became a Home Health Aide and was devoted to her clients, staying in touch with many even after her retirement.
Marlene enjoyed reading, dancing, bargain-hunting, redecorating and the Boston Red Sox. One of the highlights of her later years was seeing, in person, the Commissioner’s Trophy of the 2004 championship Red Sox. But, most of all she enjoyed the time she spent with her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St. Auburn. Her funeral will be held Wednesday Oct. 17 from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
