AUBURN, Mass. - M. Dorise (Collette) Soucy, 82, of Auburn died at the Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence on August 30 surrounded by her devoted family after a long and courageous battle with congestive heart failure.
A beloved wife, mother, memere, and great-grandmother, Dorise is survived by her best friend and husband of 60 years Gerald W. Soucy, Sr., and her five children; Linda Soucy with whom she lived, Carol Miller and her husband Walter, Gerald Jr. and his wife Patricia, David and his wife Mary Beth and Paul and his wife Donna. She was memere to nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She leaves two brothers, Gerald and Raymond Collette both of Worcester and two sisters, Jeannette Daoust of St. Petersburg FL and Yvette Gaulin of Largo FL, and a large extended family. She is predeceased by her brother Omer Collette.
Dorise was born in Springfield, daughter of the late Pierre and Rose Collette. As a young child she moved to Worcester where she attended St. Joseph’s elementary school and graduated from St. Stephen’s High School. She married her childhood sweetheart and raised her family in Worcester until relocating to Auburn 27 years ago. While her primary “job” was that of a doting wife, mother, daughter and sister, Dorise worked as a bookkeeper for many years and after her retirement was the “coffee lady” at Scanos bakery on Hamilton Street. After moving to Auburn she was a monitor on the special needs school bus, a job well suited to her love of children.
The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the staff of UMass Memorial Home Health and Hospice and the Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence for the outstanding care and compassion they provided.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, Sept. 3 from 3-7 p.m. at the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 4 with the procession gathering at the funeral home at 9 a.m. followed with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. in Saint Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street North, Auburn. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
Family requests that flowers be omitted and that donations in her memory be made to the Washburn Hospice Residence, 1183 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01603.
