Obituary: Joan M. Scully, 82

WORCESTER, Mass. - Joan M. Scully, 82, died on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012.

Joan is survived by her brother, Richard H. Scully and her sister-in-law Kathleen of East Haven, CT; a sister-in-law, Eileen Granger of Worcester and a brother-in-law, James Wlash of Auburn. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Scully.

Joan was born in Worcester the daughter of R. Harry and Ruth (Larkin) Scully and graduated from Classical High School. Joan was a secretary at Carberry & Conlin Insurance Agency for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of St. John’s Church.

She had a love for travel, crossword puzzles, quilting, family and friends. Joan was an avid fan of her beloved Red Sox and could be found during the season watching and scoring each game.

Joan’s funeral will be held from Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. on Saturday, Nov. 24 with a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church, 40 Temple St. A visitation period will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mary Queen of the Rosary Food Pantry, 60 Maple St., Spencer, MA 01562.
