ORMOND BEACH, FL/SPENCER, Mass. - Jeffery W. Neal, 70, of Ormond Beach, Fl, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at home after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves his wife of 49 years Aggie (Dale) Neal and four children, Jeffery Neal and wife Lisa (Forsberg), Worcester; Michael Neal, Boston; Lisa M. Taylor and husband Keith of Florida; and Kathy J. Strom and husband Charles of Oxford. He also leaves his sister, Patty (Neal) Porcaro and husband Richard of Spencer, seven granddaughters, six grandsons, three great granddaughters and one great grandson. Many nieces and nephews will also miss their Uncle Jeff. He is predeceased by a brother, Malcolm Neal, California.
Jeffery was born in Springfield, son of the late Malcolm and Mona (Bartols) Neal and grew up in Spencer and later resided in Worcester and Auburn. He graduated from David Prouty H.S in 1959 and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam era. Jeff worked at Norton Company for 25 years, part-time at Penske Trucking for 20 years, and retired from the City of Worcester, Parks and Recreation Dept., in 2007.
Jeffery enjoyed gardening at his home in Ormond Beach; chatting with neighbors and friends; bantering with long-time "Penske" buddies; being nearby to the NASCAR racetrack; had a fondness for all things Irish; but most of all loved being with his family and best friend and soul mate, Aggie.
A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church on Pleasant Street in Worcester.
The family would like to thank Elizabeth, Jo-Ellen, Joelle, Anton, and Steve from Florida Hospice for their kindness and compassion during Jeff's illness.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans Shelter, 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
