WORCESTER, Mass. - Frances K. (Sakalauskas) LaPointe, 91, of Worcester died Monday October 8, 2012 in St. Vincent Hospital, 123 Summer Street. Her husband of 51 years, Weston J. LaPointe died in 1992.
She leaves a daughter, Marguerite F. Abcunas and her husband, Richard, of Lakewood Ranch, FL., a son, George LaPointe and his wife Sharon of Auburn; four grandchildren, Richard Abcunas, Jr., Derrick LaPointe, Laurie Casanas and Heather Abcunas, three great-grandchildren, Alexander Abcunas, Manuel Weston Casanas and Ava Isabel Frances Casanas and two nieces. She was also predeceased by two brothers, George Sakalauskas and Charles Sakalauskas. The only daughter of George and Alexandra (Gruzauskas) Sakalauskas, Frances was born in Worcester and lived here all of her life.
Mrs. LaPointe was a machine operator for many years at Rome Plastics Co. She was a member of the former St. Casimir Church. Frances loved her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Darlin". She enjoyed the beach, annual trips to Florida and New England sports teams.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Oct. 12 from Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. John Church, 40 Temple Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Friday, Oct. 12 from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
