WORCESTER, Mass. - Ellen L. O'Leary died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 after a lengthy illness at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center.
She is survived by her sister Patricia M. O'Leary of Worcester, her brother Francis P. "Binnie" O'Leary and his wife Patricia of Worcester, and her brother Paul S. O'Leary and his wife Maureen of Auburn. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Joann O'Leary Morrissey of Auburn. Ellen also leaves 16 nieces and nephews and 31 great nieces and nephews. In addition, she leaves behind many good friends, especially Mary-Ellen Desavage and Margie Savasta. She was predeceased by her brother John J. "Wingsy" O'Leary.
Ellen was born in Worcester on September 5, 1936 to Patrick J. and Mary A. (Dowd) O'Leary. Ellen worked at State Mutual Life Asssurance Company as the executive secretary to the president and CEO for many years.
Ellen enjoyed her summers in Wells, Maine and was a member of Cape Arundal Golf Club in Kennebunkport where she once scored a hole-in-one.
Calling hours are Friday, Oct. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Saturday, Oct. 27 from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Saint John's Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
