WORCESTER, Mass. - Boleslaw “Benny” Parda, 85, died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Radius Healthcare Center. His wife Carolyn F. (Salmonson) Parda predeceased him in 2007.
He leaves a son, Daniel W. Parda of St. Petersburg, FL; three daughters, Pamela J. Daniel and her husband Stephen of Auburn, Claudia Parda-Bauman and her husband Ken of Sterling, and Sarabeth Persiani and her husband Tony of Millbury; five grandchildren; Nathan and Eric Daniel, Sage and Aili Bauman and Chloe Persiani. He also leaves two brothers, Chester Parda of W. Boylston and Henry Parda of Worcester and two sisters, Stasia Kleweic of Dudley and Leonora Motyka of Webster; nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by a daughter Louanne E. Smajkiewicz in 2010, a grandson Jared Daniel in 2008 and his brother Stanley Parda.
He was born in Lyse, Poland, son of Boleslaw and Eleanora (Kaczmarczyk) Parda and graduated from Commerce High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served on the USS Joseph P. Kennedy. Mr. Parda worked at George J. Meyer Manufacturing Co. for many years, retiring in 1983 and owned and operated Parda’s Janitorial Service.
He was a longtime and active member of Emanuel Lutheran Church where he also served as sexton for many years. Benny enjoyed going to auctions to find collectibles, especially coins, stamps and violins. He was an avid reader and had a natural curiosity for life and a thirst for knowledge. Benny was a very generous man and he was always there to help others in any way, but most of all he was a loving and devoted father and grandfather.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 10 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 200 Greenwood Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at All Faith’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, September 9 from 2-4 p.m. at Lindquist Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler Street, Worcester.
