AUBURN, Mass. – Mary L. Brown Herard of Auburn died Jan. 23 at UMass Memorial Medical Center. She was 77.
Born Oct. 7, 1935, in Worcester, Herard was the daughter of George and Veronica Carney Brown. She graduated from St. Peter High School and worked as a secretary for the former State Mutual Insurance Co.
Herard later worked as secretary to the president of the Gessner Corp. in Worcester. She finished her working career as a secretary for admissions and the football program at College of the Holy Cross.
She loved to bake, knit and to go "shelling" on the beaches of Naples. Fla., where she made her seasonal home.
Herard is survived by her husband, Harold J. Herard, of Auburn; and a son, Jim Herard, of Vestal, N.Y.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at North American Martyrs Church in Auburn. Britton-Wallace Funeral Home handled arrangements.
