AUBURN, Mass. – Julia "Sue" M. Morelly Moore of Auburn died Jan. 13 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after a brief illness. She was 78.

Born and raised in Worcester, Moore was the daughter of Joseph and Julia M. O’Connor Morelly. She moved to Auburn in 1960 and worked as a switchboard operator at the Worcester County Courthouse for 23 years until retiring in 1996. 

She was a longtime member of North American Martyrs Church and a union member of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. She volunteered at various local charities. An avid youth hockey fan, she enjoyed camping with her family.

Moore is survived by her husband of 56 years, John J. Moore; a son, Michael J. (Camille) Moore, of Palm Desert, Calif.; a brother, Joseph J. Morelly, of Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Paul P. Moore, in 1969; and a brother, Richard Morelly.

Visitation is from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Friday at Kelly Funeral Home in Worcester. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon at North American Martyrs Church in Auburn. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester.
