Elizabeth "Betty” L. Couture Barch

AUBURN, Mass. – Elizabeth "Betty” L. Couture Barch of Auburn died Feb. 4 at her home with family at her side. She was 82.

Barch was born July 19, 1930, in Worcester to Alfred and Ruth Peterson Couture. Educated in Worcester schools, she worked in the food service department and as a supervisor the laundry department at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester for many years.

She also previously worked as an operator and inspector at Lundquist Tool. She enjoyed crocheting, crafting, reading, gardening, playing Bingo and spending time with family.

Barch is survived by four children, Theresa L. Grimala, Robert J. Grimala, Suzanne Lori (Norman) LaFlash and Kenneth "Chucky" J. Barch; a sister, Judy Martin, of Worcester; two brothers, Richard Couture and David Couture, both of Worcester; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Barch, in 1984; a son, Joseph Barch Jr.; four sisters, Jean St. Germain, Marie Shays, Barbara Lebeau and Ruth Thibeault; and two brothers, Alfred "Sonny" Couture and Paul Couture.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Britton-Wallace Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial will be private.
