AUBURN, Mass. – Trash collection in Auburn will be on a regular schedule this week even though Monday is Columbus Day.
Auburn Town Hall, Auburn Public Library and Auburn Public Schools are closed Monday for the federal holiday. Town government buildings and schools will resume operations Tuesday.
Also, Allied Waste, Auburn's contractor for trash pickup, will pick up leaves, twigs and lawn clippings in town on the next six Saturday mornings.
For customers on the town trash system, Allied Waste will collect yard waste in biodegradable bags or in open containers that weigh less than 50 pounds. The Auburn Board of Health asks residents to not use plastic bags or Toter trash cans for yard waste.
Yard waste will be picked up at the curb starting at 7 a.m. on Oct. 13, 20 and 27 and Nov. 3, 10 and 17.
If you have questions or concerns about your trash pickup, contact the Department of Development and Inspectional Services at 508-832-7703.
Billing questions and requests for new service, changes in service or discontinuation of service should be directed to the Assessor's Office at 508-832-7703.
