AUBURN, Mass. – The Lorraine Gleick Nordgren Senior Center will be giving low-income individuals an opportunity to buy fruits and vegetables this summer.
The Auburn Senior Center at 4 Goddard Drive will be distributing coupons for the farmers market on Friday, Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon.
“It’s nice to give people this opportunity to get fresh fruits and vegetables,” said Cheryl Westerman, assistant director at the senior center.
Individuals must bring proof of eligibility, such as Fuel Assistance, SSI, MassHealth, Section 8 Housing Assistance, food stamps or similar programs. Applicants must also provide a photo ID.
The coupons can only be redeemed at participating farmers markets.
Westerman said that many will end up using the coupons in Auburn since it's convenient.
