AUBURN, Mass. – Tickets to a water park, a Red Sox game and a Doobie Brothers/Chicago concert could be yours if you donate blood at the Auburn Elks Lodge on Monday afternoon.
The American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. Aug. 6 at the lodge at 754 Southbridge St.
Every donor receives a free pair of CoCo Key Water Park tickets. The water park in Danvers “combines the relaxation and enchantment of the islands with the wild excitement of over 65,000 square feet of indoor waterpark fun,” according to its website.
In addition, each donor has a chance to win two Red Sox tickets for Fenway Park’s 100th season and be honored on the field as the “Red Sox Blood Donor of the Game.”
Also, each donor can register to win a pair of Doobie Brothers/Chicago tickets. These free prizes are from WXLO-FM 104.5, 100.1 The Pike and 98.9 WORC-FM.
The prize packs are nontransferable and not redeemable for cash.
According to the Red Cross website, one blood donation can help save up to three lives.
They are accepting two types of donations Monday — blood donations and double red cell donations.
Blood donors must be at least 17, weigh 110 pounds, be in good health on the day of the donation and have no history of exposure to hepatitis or HIV/AIDS. There are other health requirements.
Also, the individual’s last donation has to be more than eight weeks, or 56 days, ago, and they must have a valid identification, such as a driver’s license, blood donor card or passport.
Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.
To make an appointment, visit www.redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767.
