AUBURN, Mass. – Flu season will be here before you know it, and the Auburn Senior Center wants to make sure that senior citizens are protected from getting sick.
The senior center will be holding a flu clinic for Auburn citizens age 65 and older on Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The senior clinic, sponsored by the Auburn Board of Health and the Auburn VNA Health Network, will be at the Lorraine Gleick Nordgren Senior Center at 4 Goddard Drive.
Seniors should bring all insurance cards, including Medicare cards, to the clinic.
Pre-registration is preferred. Call the senior center at 508-832-7799 to sign up for the senior clinic.
A clinic will be held for the general public at a later date.
Auburn Waffle Festival
The Auburn Senior Center also wants to remind residents of the waffle breakfast this Saturday.
The Auburn Waffle Festival is scheduled from 9:30-11 a.m., at The Lodge at Eddy Pond, and the public is invited.
Tickets, $7 for adults, $4.50 for children under 12, can be purchased at the Auburn Senior Center front desk or at the breakfast. The lodge is at 669 Washington St.
Proceeds benefit the Auburn Historical Museum and the Friends of the Auburn Senior Center Association. “They go to great use,” said Cheryl Westerman, assistant director of the senior center.
“Many programs and supplies are helped out,” said Friends member Wayne Page. “FASCA raises a lot of money that the senior center can’t afford through the budget. They’ve been working hard for a long time and doing a lot of good things for the senior center.”
Entertainment will be provided by “The Lively Swing Tunes” Borelli Band, which specializes in music from the Big Band era with a few modern selections and rock tunes.
