AUBURN, Mass. - The Friends of the Auburn Senior Center Association (FASCA) will hold an Italian Cookout on Tuesday, with Italian sausage with peppers and onions, meatball marinara, pasta salad and a veggie tray.
The cookout, which starts at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 11, costs $7 per person and will be held at the Auburn Senior Center, 4 Goddard Dr. Tickets can be purchased at the front desk.
In addition to the cookout, there will be a free concert from the Blackstone Valley Bluegrass Band. The event is funded by the Auburn Cultural Council.
All proceeds benefit the Auburn Senior Center, and “they go to great use,” said Cheryl Westerman, the center's assistant director.
“Many programs and supplies are helped out by these dinners,” said FASCA member Wayne Page. “FASCA raises a lot of money that the senior center can’t afford through the budget. They’ve been working hard for a long time and doing a lot of good things for the senior center.”
The senior center generally has one fundraising dinner each month, Westerman said. About 100 people attend each dinner, raising approximately $700 for the senior center.
“Anybody can come out, and you’ll get plenty of food here,” Westerman said. “We have wonderful volunteers who give a great amount of delicious food. It’s also a great way to meet new people.”
