AUBURN, Mass. – The Auburn Public Library Children’s Department will offer the following weekly and monthly activities this fall:
Story Time: Registration begins Sept. 10 for Auburn residents and Sept. 13 for non-residents. Registration is required for story times, which run seasonally for six- to eight-week sessions. Once a class is full, children are put on a waiting list. If you are on the waiting list, wait until you have been called before coming.
Here are the different story time age groups:
• Rug Bugs: Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. for children 1 and under. Class will share a story, a selection of action nursery rhymes and music with free play. Class runs 20 to 30 minutes.
• Ducklings: Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. for children 2 and 3. Class will share stories, finger fun, rhymes and music. Class runs about 30 minutes.
• Zooligans: Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. for children 3 to 5. Class will share stories, finger fun and a craft. Class runs 30 to 45 minutes.
• There is also a drop-in story time for all ages Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. No registration is required.
In addition to the weekly story time, there are monthly events in September, October and November. Registration begins the last week of the preceding month.
Craft Time: On Friday, Sept. 14, at 4:30 p.m., the craft activity is a “book buddy.” On Friday, Oct. 19, at 4:30 p.m., the craft activity is a “Halloween pin.” On Friday, Nov. 16, at 4:30 p.m., the craft activity is a “turkey hat.” All ages are welcome, space is limited and registration is required.
Book Bites: The book club is for ages 9 to 12, and registration is required. On Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 5 p.m., the club will discuss "Fantasy Baseball" by Alan Gratz. On Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 5 p.m., the club discusses "Billy Hooten, Owlboy" by Thomas Sniegoski. On Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 5 p.m., the book is "Freddy to the Rescue" by Dietlof Reiche.
Afternoon Movies: Popcorn will be provided and registration is required for each movie. Dates and times are Thursday, Sept. 27, at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, at 4:30 p.m., and Thursday, Nov. 29, at 4:30 p.m. The movies will be announced.
Pajama Time: Come to this story time ready for bed. Wear your pajamas and hear some great bedtime stories. All ages are welcome, and registration is required. The pajama time dates are Monday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 19, at 6:30 p.m.
