Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra Performs at Pappas Recreation Complex: The July 29 concert, which is inaugurating the Riley-Pappas Performance Pavilion at the Pappas Recreation Complex, will be a “pops concert that appeals to a wide audience,” according to Paul Levenson, executive director of the Massachusetts Symphony.

Originally scheduled for Friday night, the expected rain has pushed the concert to Sunday at 7 p.m.

The “Classics to Broadway” concert will feature Maestro Myron Romanul as the conductor of the orchestra and solo vocalists Jane Shivick and Michael Calmès.

The concert will include music from Beethoven, Anderson, Handel, Berlioz and Verdi. There will also be selections from “The Sound of Music,” including the famous songs “My Favorite Things,” “So Long, Farewell” and “Do, Re, Mi.”

Other Broadway show selections will be from “Wicked” and “Porgy and Bess.” The performance will end with music from Jennifer Lopez, Bob Seger and John Philip Sousa.

The concert is sponsored by HealthSouth and an anonymous donor. The performance is also part of the Charter Summer Concert Series.

Attendees should bring lawn chairs and blankets. Food will be sold at the concession stand.

Limited parking is available on-site, as well as at the Lorraine Gleick Nordgren Senior Center, the Auburn VNA, Pakachoag Elementary School and the North American Martyrs Church.

In addition, complimentary shuttle service will be provided by WRTA buses beginning at 6 p.m. from the Auburn Mall parking lot at the Macy’s end.
