What To Do In Auburn This Weekend

AUBURN, Mass. – A wine/beer tasting and a Friday night football game highlight the events around Auburn this weekend. For more of what’s happening in the region, see our Events page.

Friday, Nov. 2

Auburn Football Takes On Northbridge: 7 p.m. The Auburn High School football team will look to continue its dominance against Northbridge High School at home. Auburn is 8-0, winning 16 straight games. Northbridge is also having an impressive season, with a 7-1 record. The team’s only loss came on Oct. 19 against Shepherd Hill, another solid opponent.

Wine/ Beer Tasting for Auburn Youth and Family Services: 6:30 to 9 p.m. The annual dinner/ wine and beer tasting for charity will be catered by Pepper’s Caterers and drinks will be provided by Christine Zecker. It costs $40 to attend the event at Pakachoag Church.

The admission includes a four-course meal with wine and beer. There will be a 50/50 raffle fundraiser, a ticket auction and a live auction to help support the organization. Tickets will not be sold at the door. To purchase tickets, call Auburn Youth and Family Services at 508-832-7677.

Saturday, Nov. 3

Yard Waste Pick-Up: For customers on the town trash system, Allied Waste will collect yard waste that's put in biodegradable bags, or open containers that weigh less than 50 pounds. The Auburn Board of Health asks residents to not use plastic bags or Toter trash cans for yard waste. The yard waste will be picked up at the curb starting at 7 a.m. on Nov. 3, 10 and 17.

Sunday, Nov. 4

Veterans Day Salute Canceled: The annual William Emmett Memorial Veterans Day Salute has been canceled. Larry Corbin, director of veterans services in Auburn, said not enough people signed up for the event.
