AUBURN, Mass. – A Cub Scout Halloween party/open house, Home Depot fire safety day and Halloween fun at the Auburn Mall highlight the events around Auburn this weekend. For more of what’s happening in the region, see our Events page.

Friday, Oct. 19

Pack 53 Halloween Party/Open House

Auburn Cub Scout Pack 53 is having an open house at 6:30 p.m. for new Scouts at its October pack meeting/annual Halloween party. All boys in grades 1-5 and their families are invited to attend. Registrations for new members will be accepted at this meeting at Faith Baptist Church. The evening's activities will include a Halloween costume parade, costume contests in numerous categories, a pie-eating contest, cake-walk game and more.

Auburn Football Heads to Tantasqua

The Rockets are on the road this week, looking to improve to 7-0 on the season and extending its winning streak to 15 games. The contest at Tantasqua Regional High School in Fiskdale will kick-off at 7 p.m. Tantasqua is 3-3 on the season, winning easily against Southbridge, Bartlett and Oxford and losing close games to Northbridge and Doherty. Tantasqua is coming off a 41-20 defeat to Gardner last week. Follow @rsobeyDV on twitter for updates throughout the game.

Saturday, Oct. 20

Fire Safety Day at Home Depot

The Auburn Home Depot at 779 Washington St. will have a fire safety event for kids from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be a fire safety house for kids to walk through, and the Auburn Police Department will have free fingerprinting for the kids. There also will be a Medevac (medical evacuation) helicopter for the kids to see up close.

Troop 53 Popcorn Fundraiser

The Auburn Troop 53 will continue its annual fundraising effort at Park & Shop from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The money raised from this annual popcorn sale provides the necessary money to support the numerous activities, events and overnight trips planned for the scouts of Troop 53 throughout the year. Popcorn prices vary.

Mall-O-Ween at Auburn Mall

Little ghouls and goblins can come to the Auburn Mall dressed in their favorite costumes for tricks and treats, including Halloween games and spook-tacular arts & crafts from noon to 4 p.m. Kidgits members can enjoy a special VIP area complete with pumpkin decorating, candy, crafts, prizes and more. Not a member? Join the club. It’s a kids' club that offers fun with games, discount goodies and special events. There is a $5 annual membership fee.
