AUBURN, Mass. – A firefighters' night of comedy and Christmas tree recycling highlight the events around Auburn this weekend. For more of what’s happening in the region, see our Events page.

Friday, Jan. 4

Auburn Firefighters' Night of Comedy: 7:30 p.m. The Auburn Permanent Firefighters Association is presenting an All-Star Night of Comedy with four of Boston’s best comics at Mechanics Hall. The show is a 21-plus event, and costs $15 for the general admission seating. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 508-832-3351. Mechanics Hall, 321 Main St., Worcester.

Saturday, Jan. 5

Christmas Tree Recycling: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday are the final days to recycle your Christmas tree. The town of Auburn is holding a Christmas tree drop-off for residents at the Department of Public Works’ brush pile yard. It costs $5 for residents who do not have a brush pile sticker. There is no additional fee for residents who already have a sticker. Department of Public Works, 5 Millbury St.

Boys Hockey Hosts Shrewsbury: 7 p.m. The Rockets play their first game of 2013, taking on Shrewsbury High School at home. Horgan Arena, 400 Oxford St. North.

Sunday, Jan. 6

Orchestra Auditions – Worcester Youth Orchestras: 2 to 5 p.m. Worcester Youth Orchestras is scheduling auditions for the spring season. If you play an orchestral instrument (strings, winds, brass or percussion) and are in elementary, middle or high school, you are invited to audition on Sunday. There is a $25 audition fee.
