Friday, Oct. 12
Auburn Middle School Dance: The Student Council will sponsor a sixth-grade dance from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
Pack 53 Popcorn Fundraiser: Auburn Pack 53's annual fundraising effort. Proceeds support the many activities, events and overnight trips planned for the year. The event takes place at Walmart, 742 Main St., North Oxford, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 13
Auburn Football Takes On Leicester: The four-time defending Super Bowl champions meet Leicester High School at 1 p.m. at Auburn High School. Auburn (5-0) is coming off a dominant 35-6 victory over Shepherd Hill. Leicester (4-1) easily won its first three games this season, fell to Grafton on Sept. 29, then rebounded with a 30-0 win against Millbury last week.
Auburn Fire Department Open House: noon to 4 p.m. This year's event will be held at the department's training facility at 7 West St. instead of Fire Headquarters. Children and adults will participate in activities such as touring the Fire District’s smoke house and learning the proper use of a fire extinguisher. Firefighters will demonstrate other equipment, including the "Jaws of Life," and show some of the additions to the facility, including the basement fire prop and gas field.
Sunday, Oct. 14
Maj. Brodeur 5K: The Maj. David Brodeur Memorial Foundation is holding the second annual 3.1-mile road race/walk, starting at 1 p.m at North American Martyrs Church. The event honors Brodeur, an Auburn native and military hero who died in Afghanistan last year. The money raised at the race will provide grants to Auburn High School students in academics, athletics and extracurricular activities. In addition, the first 200 registrants receive a T-shirt plus a post-race meal catered by Outback Steakhouse. Beer will be provided by Harpoon Brewery for all registered runners 21 or older. The registration fee is $25.
