Fire Prevention Day at Julia Bancroft School: 8:30 to 11:45 a.m. Members of the Auburn Fire Department are spending time this month in all the elementary schools, teaching children the importance of fire safety in the home. Book Fair at Bryn Mawr School: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The three-day book fair kicks off. Bryn Mawr Elementary School, 35 Swanson Road.
Wednesday, Oct. 17
Whitey Bulger Book Signing at Pakachoag Church: 7 p.m. The Auburn Democratic Town Committee hosts a book signing with local author Tom Foley. A retired colonel with the Massachusetts State Police, Foley wrote “Most Wanted: Pursuing Whitey Bulger, the Murderous Mob Chief the FBI Secretly Protected,” an account of Foley’s 20-year pursuit of the Boston mob figure. Last Day for Voter Registration: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 6 election. Head to the town clerk's office and fill out a voter registration form. Bring I.D. The town clerk's office will be open late for registration. Auburn Town Hall, 104 Central St.

Flu Clinic for Senior Citizens: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The senior center holds a flu clinic for Auburn residents 65 and older. Attendees should bring all insurance cards, including Medicare cards, to this vaccination clinic. Pre-registration is preferred. Friday, Oct. 19
