There's a Tale Behind This Stamford Lemonade Stand

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A group of enterprising kids offered motorists on Newfield Drive in Stamford cool, thirst-quenching drinks of lemonade Wednesday. But the kids were not just out to make a profit. They planned to donate to a charity that helps dogs in need.

“I really want to help them,” 8-year-old Angel Jackson said, adding that she was once in the Bahamas and saw many hurt and stray dogs.

“Some dogs are in trouble,” said Melanie Vargas, 10, who wants to make sure all dogs can have homes and shelter.

The kids shared responsibilities, some pouring lemonade, some handling sales and some holding signs urging people to stop.

The kids hadn't decided on a specific charity to give to.
