TUCKAHOE, N.Y. -- Santa took time from his busy schedule to stop in Tuckahoe Saturday night to help light the Holiday Tree.
The 45 foot Norway Spruce was decorated with 2000 lights. Mayor Steve Ecklond gave high marks to the Eastchester and Tuckahoe Department of Public Works for cutting tree down and transporting it into Depot Square.
The Asbury Theatre Group sang Christmas carols and Depot Square was turned into a winter wonderland surrounded by holiday trees and complete with an ice skating rink.
The Winterfest celebration is sponsored by the Generoso Pope Foundation and will continue on Sunday afternoon.
Santa will spend Sunday afternoon inside the Generoso Pope Building where he will be available for photos and to hear Christmas wishes. Live reindeer will be parked outside waiting for Santa.
