EASTON, Conn. All school activities for Tuesday, Aug. 30, are canceled in the Easton public schools. This includes Samuel Staples Elementary School's open house, convocation and teacher meetings, said Peggy Sullivan, director of finance and operations for Easton, Redding and Region 9 school systems.
A decision will be made Tuesday morning regarding the first day of school based on the safety and accessibility of roads in Easton and Redding and whether electrical power is restored to school buildings, Sullivan wrote in an email to The Daily Easton.
United Illuminating tweeted at 7:45 p.m. Monday that it has 228 crews working and 92,350 total outages in the towns and cities it serves.
Cleanup in town continued Monday with residents John, Scott and Tim Edwards busy cutting up a tree that fell on the Maple Row Tree Farm property Sunday.
