“Small Business Saturday” is dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country. Founded by American Express in 2010, this day is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

This year, “Small Business Saturday” in Fairfield coincides with Santa’s arrival, a chamber-sponsored event from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sherman Green.

“The town and chamber continue to provide unique and fun events to encourage more shopping and dining in our key economic corridors," said First Selectman Mike Tetreau. "Fairfield is fortunate to have a wide array of quality shops and restaurants that help bolster our economic base and attract residents and visitors alike.”

“Small Business Saturday” also dovetails with the upcoming first annual Shop & Stroll event, co-sponsored by the town and chamber, which is set for Dec. 12. Participating shops will stay open late and offer an assortment of hors d’oeuvres and seasonal refreshments. Traveling carolers and musicians from local schools and other organizations will fill the air with holiday cheer, and local restaurants will be offering dinner or drink specials.

“We are happy to promote this important initiative to help support our local retailers, businesses and restaurants as the small business sector continues to be the heartbeat of our community,” Fairfield Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Beverly Balaz said.
