AUBURN, Mass. — The Auburn Rotary Club will sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at St. Joseph's Parish Hall.
This drive is open to the public, and residents from all surrounding towns are invited. Appointments are preferred, but walk-in donors are also welcome. The Red Cross is hoping to collect at least 45 life-savings pints of blood at this drive.
St. Joseph's is located at 68 Central St. in Auburn.
All donors will receive a voucher for a free pound of Dunkin' Donuts coffee.
The Red Cross has to collect 3,000 pints of blood every day to meet the basic needs of patients throughout the New England Region.
In the United States, blood is needed for transfusions every two seconds. This blood can only come from caring volunteer donors. All blood types are needed, but blood Type O is the universal donor and always in great need.
If you are in good health, weigh 110 pounds or more, and have not given blood in the past 56 days you may try to donate. The American Red Cross now requires a positive ID before donating. You must be at least 17 years old, or 16 years old with signed parental consent form).
Call 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767) or log onto redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment to donate.
