Auburn Natives Playing Free Concerts In August

AUBURN, Mass. – Auburn natives plan to blast some tunes in the area this summer.

The Mitch Chakour Band and the Glenn Stewart Band will be playing free concerts at Worcester’s Elm Park in August.

Mitch Chakour and Glenn Stewart, both Auburn natives, are having their concerts on back-to-back Thursday nights.

There will be a “special rare performance” from the Mitch Chakour Band on Aug. 9 at 6:30 p.m., followed by a show from the Glenn Stewart Band on Aug. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

Chakour has been performing, recording and producing music for 35 years. He has worked with Joe Cocker, Bonnie Raitt, the J. Geils Band, Chuck Berry, among others.

Chakour has shared the stage with James Brown, B.B. King, Aerosmith, Muddy Waters and many others.

Stewart is a successful Nashville recording artist, opening for top country stars such as Tim McGraw, Sara Evans, Brad Paisley, Lady Antebellum, Jake Owen and Kelly Pickler.

He plays a hybrid of country, rock and pop that he likes to refer to as "country that kicks.”

The free concerts are presented by Park Spirit of Worcester, Inc. Park Spirit is a nonprofit "Friends of the Parks" organization, promoting citizen and community involvement in the preservation and growth of Worcester’s parks and play areas.
