AUBURN, Mass. – Need a break from the long lines at the mall this weekend? The Auburn Junior Woman’s Club has the perfect community shopping event for you.
The local woman’s club wants residents to come to its first Holiday Bazaar on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at North American Martyrs Church at 8 Wyoma Drive.
“Hopefully after people are done with Black Friday shopping, they’ll come check us out for some more holiday shopping,” said Jeanne Dee, president of the club. “It’s going to be a holiday atmosphere, festive with music and food.
“Hopefully it’s a success and the town will support us,” she added. “There’ll be jewelry, candy, knitted items, floral arrangements and much more.”
The group has crafters, vendors and others selling “attic treasures.”
“It’s a reasonable way of selling used items that are in good condition,” Dee said. “Also, many fairs cost more than this for vendors.”
An apple pie bake-off will also be held. The pies will be judged on taste and appearance, and they should be brought in disposable pans by 10:30 a.m. The contest will start at 11 a.m. It costs $5 per pie entry. Winners will receive cash prizes.
In addition, it costs $1 to attend the bazaar or those who attend can donate a nonperishable food item. Proceeds will be used to raise money and collect food for Kateri's Kitchen, a local food pantry at North American Martyrs Church.
There will also be a raffle and bake sale, with proceeds benefiting the Auburn Junior Woman’s Club.
