AUBURN, Mass. – Auburn residents are reminded that a fun-filled, action-packed Fall Festival is coming up Saturday, Oct. 27, at the high school.

And this year for the first time, the Recreation and Culture Department and Auburn Public Schools are partnering to present a coordinated Fall Festival and Homecoming celebration.

“It’s going to be a great collaboration, with Homecoming and the Fall Festival,” Pappas said.

There will be soccer and field hockey, pumpkin painting, a costume contest, pony rides, train rides, face painting, live music, food and craft vendors and more from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“You can watch some games while grabbing a hot chocolate or hot cider,” she said. “You can do some early shopping for Christmas. We’re very excited for it.”

The Auburn High School Rockets will have junior varsity and varsity soccer and field hockey games throughout the day. All games are against Tantasqua.

The boys junior varsity soccer team kicks off the festivities at 9 a.m. The girls junior varsity squad plays at 10:30 and the junior varsity field hockey team takes the field at noon.

The boys varsity soccer squad begins the varsity games at noon, followed by girls varsity soccer and field hockey games at 1:30.

Meanwhile, Pappas said, there will be several vendors, many who come to the festival every year, including Crystal Caves, Keeping Auburn Warm, Critter Creations, Ataxia Awareness, Jewel Junkie and more.

“We’re excited to have many vendors coming back,” she said. “There will be a lot of great homemade items that normally you don’t see. There are a lot of people who have great talents.”

Plenty of seasonal foods will be available, including cider and apple crisp. In addition, there will be carnival games for kids, such as three-legged races and potato sack races, what Pappas calls “fun, old-fashioned games that don’t cost any money.”

And if you’re looking to get involved in nonprofits, Pappas said volunteer groups will be well-represented.
